Safe House - the movie currently being shot in Cape Town CBD - centers on the only surviving agent of an attack on a CIA safe house (Ryan Reynolds) as he tries to get a lethal prisoner (Denzel Washington) to a second safe house before being apprehended by dangerous entities that want them both dead. Daniel Espinosa (Easy Money, Outside Love) is directing the film, which was written by David Guggenheim (Medallion, Exit Strategy). Other big names involved in the movie include Brendan Gleeson, Robert Patrick, Liam Cunningham, Tim Mcgraw Sam Shepard, and Ruben Blades.
I pretty amped for this movie - not only because I've liked Reynolds since Van Wilder, and Washington since The Bone Collector - but also because I'm pretty sure that the whole movie is going to be instantly recognizable - especially as far as locations go - for anyone who is familiar with the City of Cape Town.
Yesterday, @chriscaptivate and I took a walk down to the set of Safe House (they were shooting just outside the entrance to the Eastern Food Bizarre) to get our paparazzi on and take some undercover photos of the set. This is what we got.

Song of the Week: Aphex Twin - Rubber Johnny
Okay, so technically this is not an official Aphex Twin music video, but whatever - it's mind-blowingly fantastic. I actually don't want to even spoil it for you, but if you haven't watched this video before, don't even think of clicking off this page until you have. For optimum results, watch this with the lights off. It will change you.

Japanese Earthquake/Tsunami Banter
I'm sure you're all aware of what's going right now in Japan. They were hit with an alleged 8.8 (later bumped up to 8.9) level earthquake, followed by a tsunami that is currently wreaking havoc at a number of locations. Live streams can be found here and here. (Off air).
But this below is what this blog post is really about. My pet peeve. People who say stupid things on Facebook. Enjoy.
EDIT
Here are some more gems from the same person. Just when you thought they couldn't put their foot in it any more, they went and merged racism with religion. Oh lord.
And again.

LA.VI at the MK Awards Official Afterparty
If you saw my last post on LA.VI at Assembly, you'll remember I referenced the talented Adriaan Louw, a local photographer/filmographer who has some mad skills with a camera. I was going to post the snaps he took of the MK Awards Afterparty - that is - until I saw the pictures taken by a certain 'Flyinghorse Photography'.
You can still check out Adriaan's pictures on the Assembly website. They're definitely worth a view. I'm super amped about these next few pictures of LA.VI's set. I think they accurately capture what a fun night it was. Big ups to the mystery man behind Flyinghorse Photography. Click see more to see the full gallery.
Song of the Week: Isochronous - Beauty Queen [RAMfest Tribute]
Isochronous is a local band (Pretoria) who have been jamming together for four years. You would be forgiven for thinking they were foreign (or even alien for that matter) because of the high quality of their music - both the production quality and the band's musicality.
I've been a dedicated fan ever since I saw them grace the RAMfest Main Stage last year; they were probably my favourite act of the entire festival (keep in mind: Lark, Pendulum, Taxi Violence etc. where all there) and I'm fucking excited to check them out this weekend again. I have a feeling their recent tour of Germany will have challenged them enough to up their game to an even higher caliber.
So, in the spirit of all things RAMfest, here is my song of the week. Enjoy! And remember to leave your comments on the feedback section below the post.
