Travis Barker Drum Battles A Muppet

This epic drum battle between Muppets star, Animal, and Blink 182's drummer, Travis Barker, took place on US talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live last week. I've been a fan of Travis Barker since before I could even play drums - and he BRINGS it in this video. He totally shows that hand-controlled puppet who's boss, and cements his status as the real animal about 1:15 minutes into the clip. Enjoy.

Hey?! Hey!? Happy Friday folks.

Song Of The Week: The Used - Hands And Faces

It's Friday, my favourite day for drowning out the world with headphones on. The Used recently released their new album, Vulnerable, and although I'm still unsure about most of their new offerings (they've definitely taken the mainstream route with their last two albums) I happened upon this rad track and thought I'd share it.

What do you think?

Ron Burgundy Is Back

It's official, straight from the horse's mouth: there is going to be a sequel to Anchorman. That's right; everyone's favourite flute-toting, news-reading, gang-war starting, womanizing anchorman is back in all his musky glory, gracing our screens with jokes about pandas and the size of women's brains.

The official release date is yet to be announced, so for now we'll all just have to refresh our memories by watching the first movie again. I don't know about you, but I watch it at least once a month; you know what they say: when in Rome...

Props to @bangersandnash for making this information known!

The Return Of The D

More talented than The Beatles, Stones and Zeppelin combined. That's right, Tenacious D is back. And they haven't lost their funny.

Check out their epic comeback video below, starring the usual collection of celebri-Ds. And also Val Kilmer for some reason...

Below is their first single off the new album, Rize of the Fenix.

Happy Tuesday!

Celebrities React To Hater Tweets

Haters gonna hate - we've all heard the expression. What we don't realise, is that for every person on earth that likes something, there are at least 3 people who hate it for the same reason (or for no reason at all). This applies to celebrities too.

But thank God for haters, because they make life a little more interesting, as proven in the following video, which features famous personalities - mostly of the comedic variety - receiving and reacting to tweets from haters. It's brilliant.

Thanks for sharing this @EyeGod.

Song Of The Week: Taking Back Sunday - You Got Me

This was my walk-to-work song this morning. I think it'll put a spring in your step too. Also, the video is pretty facking hilarious. Enjoy!

Happy Friday!

Grand Opening Of Ebony & Ivory

For us basin dwellers, there's a new venue on the horizon. Ebony & Ivory claims it's an upmarket venue at downtown prices - which is pretty much exactly what Strand needs right now. Grab a Sunday cocktail and relax against beautiful views of both the ocean and the Hottentots Holland mountains. Rumour has it they also have amazing cheese cake - just take a look at what @AdeleKloppers posted a bit earlier... See what I mean?

The good news: tomorrow night, Ebony & Ivory will be having its Grand Opening. This means live music, free sushi and free wine! The bad news is that it isn't happening tonight already. See you there!

Join Ebony & Ivory on Facebook and/or Twitter to find out about the latest specials, event news and more.

Dude Flies Like A Bird (Recently Proven Fake)

I just spotted this on Memeburn. It's a video of a guy flying LIKE A BIRD.Seriously.There is a lot of speculation as to whether it is real or not, including a breakdown of the machine mechanics by science and technology fundis, Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage.

I don't know... I think I'm going to believe it until someone disproves it entirely. What do you think? Leave comments below.

#Phony 2012

By now, I'm sure you've all heard about - or even become somehow involved in - the KONY 2012 campaign. I don't know about you, but after watching the first few minutes of the KONY 2012 viral video, I closed the browser tab and went on doing more important things, namely, watching this. Did everyone seriously watch the entire 30-minute video? What a mission! But seriously, if you want to know why I'm so skeptical, just watch the video below (the whole video).

Succinctly put, Charlie Brooker. Not only is Jason Russell (the KONY '12 director) a narcissistic, evangelist attention seeker, he is also guilty of the crimes about which he so passionately preaches. What crimes you ask? Well, building an army of brainwashed children of course! He's also guilty of being the lead in a terrible Britney Spears 'Invisible Baby One More Time' doppelganger video, involving cross-dressing and bad choreography - but we all go through puberty. We can let him off for that one. Thanks for sharing this video @DiscordianKitty! Also check out Kitty's post on KONY.

What say you? Are you a PHONY advocate?

Bev The Vending Robot

Why do I love my job? Because we get to work on rad projects like this. Introducing Bev, the BOS Ice Tea vending machine with a twist.

The idea for this quirky, drink-spewing machine was conceptualised by Cow Africa, who worked closely with designers Marc Nicholson and Lyall Sprong from Thingking to bring Bev to life. The vending machine is kitted out with a mics, cameras, triggers, switches and sound-activated LEDs to amplify its personality. Check the geek-inspired video snippet below to see Bev in all her buzzing/flickering/talking glory (starring Mr. Larry Leyden).

Bev was last spotted at the Design Indaba 2012, and a little birdy tells me she'll be touring the country soon, continuing her grand mission of delighting the public. If you'd like more info on Bev, contact Jen Watkins.

Can Haz Dubstep

Oh my God... I never realised what was missing in my life until I watched this video. I'm gonna shut up and let dubstep cat do the talking.

-EDIT-

Hold up! Catstep is old news. Dogstep is the new black. Thank you @ShellsPemBroke for the enlightenment!

Chuck Norris: The Game

I hate Chuck Norris jokes as much as the next guy, but this is just the best. Refresh the page to restart the animation.

I want that game.

The RAMfest Lineup In Videos

If you are't going to RAMfest this year, let these videos be the hotplate to your envy stew. If you are going, you can start getting amped. Without further ado, I give you the RAMfest Main Stage Lineup: in videos. Click see more to check the videos out. Hot shit.

Assassin's Creed 3 Debut Trailer

I am the biggest Assassin's Creed fan. Well, apart from @Grizzle that is (all games finished, all feathers collected, all achievements achieved, the list goes on). So naturally, when this trailer popped up on the Opinionet yesterday, I peed a little.

The latest installment in the roof-jumping adventures of Desmond Miles/Ezio Auditore da Firenze sees you... tree jumping? Umm, anyway, it's set during the American Revolution, so finally you get to use your deadly killing machinery to take down some self-righteous Yanks (I assume?). I bet Altaïr ibn-La'Ahad would've loved that (nerd joke).

What Have I Done?

I hope I see you guys next week. See picture below.

And counting...

Shit Your Parents Smoked To [mixtape]

Yesterday, @JudyRom introduced me to 8tracks, the online do-it-yourself Internet radio / social network. Godammit, another social network - AND - one with a valid reason to actually use it. Every. Day. Anyway, I found this super badass mix of old-school rock, appropriately entitled 'Shit Your Parents Smoked To'. Enjoy!

Bring back memories much?

Allée Bleue Sunday Jam [Video]

We joined De-Wet Nagel from My Darkest Diary - along with his new singer, Sheena Banks - at Allée Bleue Wine Estate on Sunday for a bit of a jam. It was a relaxed atmosphere; great wine and great food. Perfect for a Sunday brunch with family or friends, with unobtrusive acoustic music as ambience. I made this short video using iMovie for iPad, so it's not amazing - but I'll get there.

Song Of The Week: Bicycle Thief - Goodbye Ian Curtis

Bicycle Thief is a Capetonian band who could easily be mistaken for an international. I mean this in the best way possible. Take a listen to the first single off their new EP, Ammunition. You can also download it for free.

I'll be doing a full review of Ammunition, so be sure to check back for the scoop. In the mean time, follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
